Sample Resume

If you elect to paste an existing resume into your AIMS account we have some formatting suggestions. Although we encourage you to use a chronologically formatted resume, any resume that clearly and accurately conveys your work and education history is acceptable.

  • When you paste your resume into AIMS, be sure that you DO NOT bring your name, address and phone number in. This information is automatically inserted on to your resume.
  • A chronologically formatted resume generally allows for a more thorough review of your qualifications
  • Putting your education near the beginning of your resume also helps facilitate or more thorough review
  • Special formatting, such as bolding, italics, bullets, and underlines will be automatically removed when you paste your resume into AIMS. In some cases, apostrophes and quotation marks may also be affected. Be sure to review your final resume before you submit it for a job.
  • After pasting in your resume, you may notice that lines will break in unusual places. You can easily edit these line breaks and other formatting changes inside of AIMS
  • To avoid any formatting surprises you may wish to save your original resume as a plain text file before you copy and paste it into AIMS. This will remove special "smart tags" used by some word processing programs such as MS Word. Removing the "smart tags" and bullets before you paste your resume into AIMS will often eliminate unusual formatting changes.
