Substitute Relief Counselor Job Opportunities

The Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court has jurisdiction over juvenile matters, offenses committed by adults against juveniles (youth under the age of 18), and family matters, except divorce, in Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, and the towns of Herndon, Vienna and Clifton. Below we have listed part-time job opportunities available at JDRDC facilities. Please note that these positions generally do not have fringe benefits such as leave, health insurance or retirement. Current Opportunities

Girls Probation House (Part-time)

Salary: $17.53/hour (Grade S14)
Location: 10650 Page Ave
Cares for and supervises girls ages 14 - 17 in a community-based residential facility. Relief counselors will be responsible for program implementation and behavioral management of residents on an as-needed basis. Day, evening, overnight, weekend and holiday hours required.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with courses in the behavioral sciences. Two years of work experience with children or adolescent groups may be substituted for two years of academic credit toward a bachelor's degree. Completion of a two-year certificate or associate's degree program in behavioral sciences from a community college or other college, and one year of full-time work experience with children or adolescent groups, one of which must have been with delinquent youth, preferably in an institutional or group home setting.

Selection Procedure: Evaluation of relevant education and experience. Personal interview of top rated applicants.

Note: Selected applicants will have to satisfactorily complete a criminal background check.

Less Secure Shelter (Part-time)

Salary: $17.53/hour (Grade S14)
Location: 10650 Page Avenue
Cares for and supervises residents. Responsible for program implementation and behavioral management of residents on an as-needed basis. Evening, overnight, and weekend hours will be required. Must be available to work holidays.

Minimum Qualifications: Third year college student majoring in courses in the behavioral sciences. One year's work experience with children or adolescent groups may be substituted for the one year of academic credit towards a bachelor's degree, or have completed a two-year certificate or associate's degree in behavioral sciences and one year of full-time work experience with adolescent groups, one of which must have been with delinquent youth, preferably in an institutional or group home setting.
