The use of the land in Fairfax County is determined by the current
zoning that is allowed on each parcel of property. Future development
of the county is guided by the Comprehensive Plan, which contains
recommended land uses in all parts of the county. Copies of the
Comprehensive Plan are available at the public library and at the
Supervisor's office. For planning purposes, the county is divided into
separate planning districts. The
Hunter Mill District is primarily located within the Upper Potomac Planning District, which includes the Dulles and Reston/Herndon Suburban Centers, and the Vienna Planning District. Copies of the Comprehensive
Plan are available from Maps and Publications Sales, Fairfax
County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax,
VA. All land use changes must be in conformance with the Comprehensive
Plan.
The following is a list of the land use applications submitted in the Hunter Mill District from October, 2006 to August, 2007.
Supervisor Hudgins recently appointed a Land Use Committee to increase public participation in the land use process.
