PRC District Information

The template used to create Reston over 40 years ago has been quite successful, creating a community of trails, villages and town centers, lakes, diverse housing, and a host of other amenities. Reston today is one of the most desirable places in the County to live and work. Although the Planned Residential Community (PRC) zoning has served us well in reaching this point, it is now time to review the zoning and provide input on how best to guide future redevelopment under the PRC zoning.

On September 11, 2005, Jim Zook, Director of Fairfax County's Department of Planning and Zoning, provided an update to the Reston Planning and Zoning Committee on the PRC zoning. This meeting was a follow-up to an earlier meeting held in June, 2006. Mr. Zook recommended some key questions to be discussed during the review.

I have requested the Reston Planning and Zoning Committee conduct a series of community meetings inviting input from community members and organizations on the proposed changes to the PRC Zoning Ordinance.

Meetings are scheduled for October 4, October 24, and November 15 beginning at 7:00 PM at Langston Hughes Middle School, 11401 Ridge Heights, Reston. Additional meetings will be scheduled as required. Materials for the community meeting are available at PRC District information on the County's Web site. Feel free to contact my office at 703-478-0283 or contact us through our Web site.
