SE 2005-HM-004, Medical Care Facility, Great Falls Heritage Partners, LLC – Information only meeting to discuss the development of Somerford Place, which will provide assisted living services for individuals in the middle stages of Alzheimer’s disease, located near the corner of Reston Avenue and Route 7.
Tara Wiederman gave an overview of the facility. It will contain 64 private rooms in a one-story facility. There will be a maximum of 64 residents. There will be 38 parking spaces. FAR is 0.13, and the building will contain 27,918 square feet. The facility will consist of 4 connected houses, each with 16 rooms. Each house will contain a living room, dining room, and kitchen. There will be 2 employees in each house for a total of 16 during the day. At night there will be 1 employee in each house plus on additional for a total of 5 employees.
Since the residents will not drive, the traffic impact should be minimal. Letters regarding the development have been sent to neighbors. Most of the property on the east part of the site will remain undeveloped.
The entrance to the site will be shared with the abutting property to the south.
Residents will be able to walk around the grounds within the fenced area. Respite care will also be available pending vacant space.
Q. What about the noise from the fire truck sirens? The North Point fire station is located immediately to the north of the planned facility. A. There will be a fence between the station and the facility, and there is some vegetation buffer on the station property, but there are no plans for additional noise mitigation.
The applicant will return for the October 18 th meeting. They were requested to provide information about the detailed changes from the earlier application submitted in 2000.
Meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
