One of my goals as the Hunter Mill District Supervisor is to continue broader citizen participation in the land use issues within the District. Toward this end, I established a Land Use Committee in July, 2000, composed of volunteers from across the District. We are looking for several new members on the Committee. The minimum time commitment required of a member is about 10-15 hours a month. A regular term is three years and members are phased in in one, two, or three year terms.
Anyone interested in serving should forward a copy of their resume to my office to the attention of Goldie Harrison at Hunter Mill District Office, 12000 Bowman Town Drive, Reston, 20190.
If you have additional questions please contact Edyth Frankel, Committee Chairman at 703-242-7651 (edyth.frankel@yahoo.com) or Goldie Harrison at 703-478-0283 (goldie.harrison@fairfaxcounty.gov)
The Hunter Mill District Land Use Committee was formed by Supervisor Hudgins to increase public participation in the land use process. The committee:
-
Reviews land use proposals for which Supervisor's office has requested citizen review
-
Conducts public meetings for proponents to present proposals and for citizens to provide input
-
Develops a carefully considered recommendation to the Supervisor and Planning Commissioner that effectively addresses the citizens' concerns relating to the proposal in collaboration with the proponent of the
proposal if possible
