This Veterans Day Help Support the Troops
The Hunter Mill District Office and South Lakes High School Athletics are teaming together to support a United States Navy unit currently stationed in Afghanistan. Beginning now through November 11th, we will be collecting requested items that will help bring a little bit of home to our troops. The unit's commanding officer is CDR Halle Dunn, who grew up in Reston and was a graduate of South Lakes High School. His unit consists of 78 soldiers.
In the photo, CDR Dunn is holding a flag that flew at the base. This flag is on its way to Reston and will be presented to South Lakes High School at a ceremony on November 13, at 9 a.m.
We are collecting food, toiletries, sports, games, holiday and winter items to send to this unit. Your contributions will be greatly appreciated. Click here for a complete listing of suggested and requested items. Your contributions can be dropped off at the Hunter Mill District Office, 12000 Bowman Towne Drive, in Reston.
In addition, South Lakes High School will be collecting contributions at the Friday, November 8th varsity football game. Boxes for your items will be at the main gate.
LETTERS FROM HOME: Your letters of support will also be most welcome! These can be from children, teens, adults, anybody!
