Message from Supervisor McKay
January 2009
Dear Lee District Neighbor:
Welcome to my electronic newsletter. I hope that you’ll find the information useful and that you will contact me and my staff if you have questions or concerns.
The first months of a new year are always full of promise. This year is no exception but it also offers great unknowns. We begin a new national administration; we also continue on the shaky economic grounds of 2008.
As you’ll read later in this newsletter, the County has been hit hard by the economic downturn. While we may not have much direct power over these financial storms there are many areas where we do have power.
- We can be good neighbors, keeping an eye out for each other and protecting our neighborhoods.
- We can be good citizens, staying informed and communicating with our elected officials at all levels of government. (We do work for you, after all!)
- We can learn from the strengths of our older citizens who have lived through harder times than these and who have valuable lessons to teach us.
- We can be creative, trying new ideas and new ways of doing things.
As I begin my second year of elected office, I thank you for your support and I look forward to continuing to serve you.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey C. McKay
