FY2012 Budget
This budget illustrates how much has changed over the past few years as we’ve come to realize that Fairfax County is not immune to the economic headwinds that have battered the national and state economies. The budget adopted by the BOS drops the residential property tax rate from $1.09 to $1.07. It’s a no-frills budget built on financial prudence and good management. There are no cuts to schools, code compliance, public safety, human services, or parks and libraries.
While surrounding jurisdictions are wrestling with large deficits, deep program cuts, and increased taxes, we are holding the line with a County average flat tax rate. We’ve taken the prudent approach over the past several years of holding funds in reserve at budget carryover to plan for budget requirements in the following fiscal year.
