The Music Friends of the Fairfax County Public Library will cosponsor two free Concerts at the Alden events in March: a Young Soloists Recital on Sunday, March 16; and a National Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble on Sunday, March 30. Both will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the Alden Theatre of the McLean Community Center, located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue in McLean.

Performers at the March 16 Young Soloists Recital include pianists Evelyn Mo, a student at Oak Hill Elementary School; Clara Guo, who attends Kilmer Middle School; and Timothy Tran, a student at Lake Braddock High School, as well as harpist Angelina Savoia, who is homeschooled. The young musicians will perform works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Liszt and Mozart among others.

Performers in the National Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble concert on March 30 include harpist Dotian Levalier and violinist Marissa Regini. Levalier is the principal harpist of the National Symphony Orchestra and a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. Levalier, who joined the NSO in 1969, has made numerous recital, television and radio appearances. She records on the Erato, Sony, MSR, and Pro-Arte labels.

Regni is principal second violinist of the National Symphony Orchestra, a position she assumed in September of 1996. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, she has made solo and chamber music appearances in the United States, Germany and Mexico, and has collaborated with many well-known artists.

The musicians will perform Bartók’s “Romanian Dances,” as well as works by Saint-Saëns, Donizetti and others.
