The Fairfax County Public Library presents Michael Scheuer, author of Marching Toward Hell: America and Islam after Iraq, at 7:30 p.m. on March 27 at the City of Fairfax Regional Library, 10360 North Street in Fairfax. Mimi Geerges of “The Mimi Geerges” show on satellite radio will interview Scheuer. The interview will provide an opportunity for audience participation. Books will be available for sale and signing courtesy of Borders. Reservations will be accepted beginning March 13 by calling 703-293-6227. Free underground parking is available at the branch.

Michael Scheuer is a veteran CIA counterterrorism analyst. He was assigned to create a bin Laden desk at the CIA in 1996. Scheuer also wrote the best-seller Imperial Hubris and Through our Enemies’ Eyes: Osama bin Laden, Radical Islam and the Future of America. The author contends that the U.S. is still unsafe from terrorists. Scheuer has said of bin Laden “his genius lies in his ability to isolate a few American policies that are widely hated across the Muslim world. And that growing hatred is going to yield growing violence.” Scheuer was interviewed on the TV news program “60 Minutes” after the publication of Imperial Hubris.
