Three Fairfax County Public Library branches
will begin renovation in the next few months:
Thomas
Jefferson Library in Falls Church, Richard
Byrd Library in Springfield and Martha
Washington Library in Alexandria.
Each branch will close its current location
and reopen within two months at a temporary
site to continue serving their customers until
the renovations are completed. Renovations are
expected to take a minimum of 18 months. The
exact dates for the closings are still to be
determined, but are expected to occur between
mid-October and the end of December.
The temporary locations are listed below:
Thomas Jefferson Library
The temporary site for Thomas Jefferson Library
will be St. Philip Catholic Church, 7500 St.
Philips Ct., Falls Church 22042 (trailers in
parking lot).
Richard Byrd Library
The temporary
site for Richard Byrd Library will be 6315 Backlick
Road, Springfield, VA 22150 (second floor of
the Bank of America building).
Martha Washington Library
The temporary site for Martha Washington Library
will be 6328 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA
22303 (Unit F).
More details will be released as the dates
are confirmed. Funding for construction was
generated from a 2004 bond referendum passed
by the residents of Fairfax County.
