Board Policies

  1. The general policies, requirements and minimum standards expressed in this document (and in the Bylaws) shall apply throughout the Fairfax County Public Library System.
  2. New policies and/or modifications to existing policies may be initiated by the Director and individual Library Board members. All such modifications and initiation requests shall be reviewed by the Policy Committee of the Library Board and forwarded to the full Library Board for consideration and action.
  3. New policies and modifications to existing policies will be distributed to the Library System immediately upon adoption/amendment. Appropriate changes to the Board of Trustees Policy Manual will be distributed to the Library Board.
  4. Dates of policy modifications or of establishment of new policy shall be shown on each revised page of the Policy Manual.
