- A journalist, Ellen Byerrum has written five books in the Crime of
Fashion series, including Killer Hair,
Designer Knockoff,
Hostile Makeover,
Raiders of the Lost Corset,
and Grave Apparel.
The books feature sleuth Lacey Smithsonian who “strides through her mysteries in high heels and knockout vintage suits” in DC, “the city that fashion forgot.”
- She also writes plays under the pseudonym “Eliot Byerrum”: “Gumshoe Rendezvous” and “A Christmas Cactus,” both published by Samuel French. “A Christmas Cactus” is being produced in five different locations this year.
- Her journalistic heroines are all fictional -- Brenda Starr. Lois Lane.Hildy Johnson,played by Rosalind Russell in His Girl Friday, based on the play The Front Page by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur. “My heroines were all fictional, beautiful, smart, sassy, and very well-dressed.”
