Author Kevin Garrahan was interviewed for BookCast by Fairfax County Public Library Director Sam Clay. BookCast is sponsored by Virginia Commerce Bank through the Fairfax Library Foundation.

  • Kevin Garrahan, a sixth-grade teacher at Louise Archer Elementary School in Vienna, has published his first book -- Third House Down Hidden Cove, a novel for preteens.


  • In the novel, Garrahan explores the dilemma of his protagonist Dan who is caught between Eddie, a born leader, and the less fortunate Jim who lives in the third house down Hidden Cove – the other side of the tracks.


  • A Navy dependent, Kevin began to write at a young age as a way to cope with many moves. He settled in Northern Virginia in 1985 where he attended George Mason University and obtained a B.A. in law enforcement and a M.A. in education. He has worked for the Fairfax County Public Schools for 19 years.
