Portable assistive listening equipment may be borrowed from the Access Services library. FM and infrared portable assistive listening equipment and a loop system are available. Listening systems consist of a transmitter and microphone worn by the program presenter and a receiver and earphones or neck loop worn by the user. Portable listening equipment should be picked up at our suite in the Fairfax County Government Center and returned to the same location within three weeks. To request a reservation, call 703-324-8380 or TTY 703-324-8365, or e-mail us.

Sign language interpretation and Computer Assisted Realtime Captioning (CART) are available for library programs. Contact the branch where the program will take place to make arrangements. Two weeks advance notice is desirable.

Many libraries are equipped with built-in assistive listening systems and other assistive equipment. Contact individual branches for complete information.
