Since opening in 1971 as the first regional library of FCPL, Sherwood has been serving the needs of its neighbors in many ways using its unique resources. Staff and volunteers provide hands-on technology classes and one-on-one tutoring sessions in our computer tech lab on the second floor. Our meeting space is used in partnership with both the American Association of Retired Persons for tax assistance and the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia for its family literacy classes. Our youngest customers (and their parents) enjoy the Read to Me room with its puzzles, flannel boards, and board books. Many of our local residents know Sherwood Regional as the home of the Mount Vernon Farmers’ Market on Tuesday mornings from May to November.
The Friends of the Sherwood Library raise money for programming and special purchases though their book sorting and selling activities. We invite you to join our Friends and our volunteers to learn all the ways Sherwood benefits our community. |
