Coming from the Capital Beltway (1-495), take Exit 177A South, Fort
Belvoir. This portion of Rte 1 is under construction.
Turn left at Huntington Avenue onto the extension to Fort Hunt
Road.
From the extension, turn right at the light onto Fort Hunt Road, going
south.
Go to the third traffic light (2.8 miles) and turn right onto Sherwood
Hall Lane.
Travel 1.1 miles and the library will be on the left, on the corner with
Parkers Lane.
Via Route 1:
Coming from the Beltway (I-495), take Exit 177A South ("Fort
Belvoir").
Travel south on Rte. 1 for 4.1 miles, passing Beacon Mall, South Valley
Mall and Golds Gym (all on the right).
After passing Golds Gym, turn left at the second traffic light, opposite
WalMart, onto Sherwood Hall Lane.
Travel through two traffic lights (0.5 Miles), past the Fire Station at
Parkers Lane.
The library parking lot will be immediately on the right, after crossing Parkers Lane.
From Old Town Alexandria Via The George Washington
Parkway:
Follow Washington Street South through Alexandria and continue down the
George Washington Memorial Parkway South.
Take the fourth exit (Morningside Lane).
Follow Morningside Lane to the first traffic light and continue straight
through the light. Morningside Lane becomes Sherwood Lane.
Travel Sherwood Hall Lane 1.1 miles and the library will be on the left, just before the next traffic light at Parkers Lane.
From Fort Belvoir:
Take Route 1 North past Woodlawn Plantation.
Go past Mount Vernon Highway on the right and move into the right-hand lane.
Bear to the right onto Sherwood Hall Lane, opposite WalMart.
Travel through two traffic lights (0.5 miles). The library parking lot will be immediately on the right, after Parkers Lane.

Outdoor lot parking is available free of charge.
Public Transportation:
Fairfax Connector buses 161 and 162, loop between Huntington Metro Station, North (located on North Kings Highway) and Mount Vernon Hospital. Take either bus to the intersection of Parkers Lane and Sherwood Hall Lane. Sherwood Regional Library is located across from Parker's Lane next to Walt Whitman Middle School.
Fairfax Connector buses 151 and 152, intersects the corner of Parker's Lane and Sherwood Hall Lane as well, although these buses have longer routes and makes more frequent stops. For more information please visit the Fairfax Connector Web site.
Normal fare is $1.35 and $1.25 with a SmarTrip® card. For senior citizens and/or disabled personnel fare is 60¢. Additional public transportation trips can be planned using the Metro Trip Planner, located on Metro's Web site.
