MOUNT PLEASANT BAPTIST CHURCH

6477 Lincolnia Rd., Lincolnia, Va.

In 1867 CHARLES and ELIZA BROWN of Westchester County, NY, deeded one acre of land to the "Freed Men of Fairfax County" for religious and school purposes and a "burying ground by and for colored people" (Db H4:282). Additional land was acquired in 1913 (Db Q7:546). The brick church was built in 1931 to replace an earlier log frame structure. There are 75+ gravestones and an undetermined number of unmarked graves.
