In 1867 CHARLES and ELIZA BROWN
of Westchester County, NY, deeded one acre of
land to the "Freed Men of Fairfax County" for
religious and school purposes and a "burying ground
by and for colored people" (Db H4:282). Additional
land was acquired in 1913 (Db Q7:546). The brick
church was built in 1931 to replace an earlier
log frame structure. There are 75+ gravestones
and an undetermined number of unmarked graves.
