Berkley Family Cemetery

12541 Lee Hwy., Fairfax, Va.

The cemetery is located at the southwest corner of the property. The site was surveyed by Jane K. Wall on Sept. 6, 1976. She noted "Area wooded and overgrown. Graves sunken in, stones toppled, giving an abandoned and neglected appearance. Evidence of several unmarked graves in addition to those below." She recorded inscriptions from three gravestones. Researchers requesting to revisit the cemetery in Jan. and Feb. of 1988 were denied access by the residents. Aerial photographs reveal that a barn has been built next to the cemetery and that the burial site appears to have been cleared. Reports have been received that say the cemetery has been "bulldozed" and that the gravestones are missing. There has been no recent survey to confirm or deny these reports. The names listed below are taken from the 1976 survey and are abstracts rather than full transcriptions.
