BARNES/CUSTIS/STUART FAMILY

POPES HEAD RD. & QUIETBROOK RD., FAIRFAX

Several generations of the Barnes, Custis, and Stuart families were buried in this private cemetery. The land was part of the "Hope Park" property. The house still stood nearby. The burials were reportedly moved to Fairfax Cemetery in 1955 when the U.S. Army built a Nike Missile Base on the site. Documentation on the disenterment had not been located.
