"Brimstone
Hill", 6801 Ox Rd., Fairfax Station, Va.
"Brimstone
Hill", built early 1800's, was in the Arundell
Family as early as 1822. The cemetery, located about
150' east of the house, has been completely cleared
and graded by the current owners, thereby obliterating
all surface evidence of unmarked burials. A rectangular
bed of gravel (@12' x 20') has been laid and eight
marble headstones and their footstones have been
laid flat in three neat rows. Two sandstone bases
(probably for the JULIA ARUNDELL and HUGH M. DAVIS
stones) and about 10" of the bottom portion
of the ANN V. DAVIS stone (which had been set in
cement) are sitting by a fence @25' north of the
other gravestones. There are two fragments of marble
that do not obviously correspond to any of the stones,
too. The owner has planted evergreen trees all around
the area. The yard around the house is very well
maintained, but area immediately beyond the graveled
plot is grown up with tall grass.
