The burial ground for the slaves
and free blacks who lived and worked at George
Washington's home "Mount Vernon" is located about
50 yards southwest of the Washington Family Tomb
(FX145), and is marked by two memorials. The first
, a simple 3'x 6' stone, was placed in 1929. The
second, erected in 1983, is a broken granite column
surrounded by three concentric rings of granite/brick
walkways. The mansion and grounds are preserved
as an historical museum open to the public. Admission
