MATILDAVILLE CEMETERY

Great Falls Park, Old Dominon Dr.,, Great Falls, Va.

This cemetery was probably established c. 1800, about the time that the town of Matildaville was formed to support the building and operation of the Potomack Canal around Great Falls. There are numerous fieldstone markers and grave depressions evident, but no headstones on site. The one surviving headstone (CHRIST JACOBS, d. 1803) is on display in the park visitors center.
