8606 OX RD., LORTON
This cemetery measured about
100'x 50' and was located southeast of the house.
There were six formal monuments and 20+ burials
marked by fieldstones or depressions. Four large
walnut trees towered over the graves. There
was evidence of a fence that ran along the south
and east sides of the site, but the current
owner felt that it was intended to keep livestock
away from the house and gardens and was not
original. The headstones were all standing,
but the footstones had been uprooted and placed
beside their respective headstones. The cemetery
was clean and well maintained.
