Located on the north
side of the Southern Railway tracks on land now
owned by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority.
During the winter of
1861/62 large numbers of Confederate troops were
stationed in and around the Centreville area. Many
deaths were caused by both military action and disease,
especially measles. Documentary sources record that
a cemetery containing several hundred burials, many
marked by native soapstone markers, was identifiable
as late as 1898. The area is heavily wooded, and
no graves have been positively located yet.
