Belle Haven Country Club
Sometime after 1783, Westgrove plantation came into being, built by the Wests, a family prominent in the early development of the county. It is hard to imagine a plantation on a golf course, but a land survey made before the house and grounds were sold in 1815, indicated a large house with huge chimneys, a barn, an overseer’s cottage and slave quarter’s. The plantation was burned during the Civil War.
