Event Guidelines
Ages
Please follow the age recommendations for children’s events and only sign up children whose ages fall within the range specified in the event description. Library performers and presenters prepare for specific age groups so that children won’t get bored or confused by material that is not age-appropriate.
Some events are for children only. Parents of special-needs children are always welcome to attend with their children.
Event capacities
Library meeting rooms have maximum occupancy limits (set by the Fairfax County Fire Marshal) that must be observed at all times. Due to space limitations, it may be necessary for strollers to remain outside of the room during an event.
Start times
Please arrive on time so that everyone can enjoy the event.
Daycare centers and other large groups
If you operate a daycare service and would like to bring all the children to an event, please ask branch staff if this is possible.
What to do if an event is full
If an event your child wants to attend is already full, check the calendar for similar events at other library branches.
Photos
Registrants give permission to be photographed and/or videotaped when in a public space. See the library’s website to read the entire permission statement.
Services for people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing
Please ask for signed language interpretation or assistive listening devices when you sign up. Two weeks advance notice is recommended. Contact individual branches to make arrangements.
