The
Friends of the Burke Centre Library was organized
in June, 2002 after the site had been approved
for a library and the county had purchased the
property.
The library opened
for business on June 28, 2008. Our Friends group

| Accomplishments |
The Friends of the Burke Centre Library have concentrated on two things: raising funds and using those funds for the benefit of the library.
- We have held book sales, including major sales twice a year and one day "mini-sales" at other times of the year. The mini-sales usually feature a theme, such as Romance, or Holiday, or Fiction. Some of the book sales feature Silent Auctions of special books received as donations.
- We sponsored a statue in the Art in the Pages program of the Fairfax Library Foundation in 2008. The statue now stands in front of the library.
- We sponsored a project consisting of an amphitheater-type arrangement of benches, called the "Book Burrow", which is outdoors just outside the library meeting rooms. It will be used for storytelling and other programs. The Book Burrow was an Eagle Scout project by a local Boy Scout.
