 For
over 25 years the Friends of the George
Mason Regional Library have been a fixture in the
Annandale community. On December 11, 2000, the Fairfax
County Board of Supervisors honored the George Mason Friends
for their support of libraries state wide and for their
global approach in making contributions to libraries,
notably their support of the Summer Reading Program.
The Friends annually pledge thousands
of dollars for system-wide Library programming that
brings professional story-tellers and entertainers to
Library branches to encourage Library use and reading.
The Friends were also selected to be the Friends Group
of the year by both the Friends of Virginia Libraries
and the Virginia Library Association at their annual
conventions. The George Mason Friends generously donated
$30,000 to rebuild the Carrollton (Virginia ) Library
which was destroyed by Hurricane Floyd. Plaques commemorating
these honors are on display at the George Mason Regional
Library.

condition are appreciated. Magazines are not accepted.General
information on donations of books.
A small number of donations
may be placed in the donation bin in the front
lobby of the Library branch. Larger amounts of
donations may be brought to the back door by the
loading dock. Please ring the bell by the back
door so we can assist you.
