June is time for graduation!
Graduation is often called degree day and the event itself is also called commencement. In the early universities, commencement ceremonies were a sign that a scholar was ready to “commence” his teaching career. In the United States and Canada, it is also used to refer to the advancement from a primary or secondary school level. Many colleges and universities have different traditions associated with the graduation ceremony.
According to Census 2000 eighty percent of the U.S population
25 and over has a high school diploma or more.
