Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar. In 2009 Ramadan begins on August 21 and ends on September 19. The Fast of Ramadan occurs during this month. An estimated 1.5 billion Muslims celebrate Ramadan each year by fasting during the daylight hours and eating light meals after the sun sets.
