World War I

*
World War I was a international military conflict that took place between 1914 and 1918 between the allies (Russia, France, British Empire, Italy, United States, Japan, Rumania, Serbia, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Montenegro) and the central powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey, Bulgaria). The United States did not enter the conflict until April 1917.

It began in the Balkans on June 28, 1914 with the assassination of Austrian Crown Prince, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his wife. The 1919 Treaty of Versailles ended World War I by imposing disarmament, reparations, and territorial changes on Germany.
