Washington humorist Art Buchwald, a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist known as the "Wit of Washington," has died at age 81. For many decades Art Buchwald had been ranked among America's finest humor writers. His syndicated column, which appeared twice weekly in more than five hundred newspapers worldwide, spoofed the tangled web of national politics and the muddle of modern life.
He received the Pulitzer Prize for Outstanding Commentary in 1982 and in 1986 was elected to the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters.
