Stephenie Meyer was born in Connecticut in 1973. The unusual spelling of Stephenie came from her father, Stephen, who added an “ie” to his first name. She is the second of six children. When she was four years old her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She attended Brigham Young University on a National Merit Scholarship where she majored in English. She married a childhood friend, Christian (known as Pancho) and has three sons, Gabe, Seth, and Eli.
Stephenie didn’t start her writing career until she was twenty-nine. She claims that the idea for the Twilight saga came from a dream she had on June 2, 2003. She wrote daily and finished the book by the end of August. Once her agent sent the novel to book publishers it was less than a week before it was purchased by Little, Brown and Company. Most unusual for a first novel, Twilight received rave reviews. It is anticipated that Breaking Dawn will provide the conclusion to the four volume saga.
Breaking Dawn the fourth and final book in Meyer's series, will be released at midnight on August 1, with a first printing of 3.2 million copies.
