Robert Allen Zimmerman, born on May 24, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota, is the popular folk singer known as Bob Dylan.
A true musician, Bob taught himself to play the guitar, piano, and harmonica. Dylan started his career making folk music, but later abandoned that for rock-n-roll. Dylan's rock music showed others that rock could be emotional and fun. Life experiences often caused Bob Dylan to change his style of music, and after rock music, he pursued both Christian-based music and the blues.
Dylan has been honored widely for his musical genius. He is featured in Time Magazine's 100 as the 20th century's most influential folk singer. He has also received Grammy and Academy Awards, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
