Henry "Lighthorse Harry" Lee was getting ready to journey to England to study law when the Revolutionary War broke out. He joined a Virginia cavalry unit where he made a name for himself. After the war he became a member of the Virginia House of Delegates and the Continental Congress. He was governor of Virginia from 1792-1795 and then entered Congress in 1799. He was father to Robert E. Lee, general in chief of the Confederate Army in the Civil War.
