Born in 1955 and raised in poverty, Moses Malone did not start playing basketball until he was almost 14. Colleges started recruiting him for their teams as early as his freshman year in high school. He attended only one and a half days of college before being drafted by the Utah Stars and became the first professional basketball player to bypass playing for a college team. He won the NBA's Most Valuable Player award three times. He retired in 1995 after a 21 year career.
