Pat Robertson

*

Pat Robertson was born in 1930. In 1960 he purchased a UHF television station in Virginia Beach, and the Christian Broadcast Network (CBN) was born with its first program in October 1961; the same year he was ordained a minister. In 1963 he held his first telethon, asking listeners to contribute $10 a month to help support the TV station. In 1987 he resigned his ordination prior to announcing his candidacy for president, aiming at conservative Americans. His opponents claim that his religious ideals have often seemed to conflict with his financial ventures. He currently lives in Virginia Beach with his wife.
