Peter Vivian Daniel was admitted to the Virginia bar in 1808. He entered the Virginia legislature in 1809 and remained there until 1835. He was appointed judge in the U.S. district court of Virginia in 1936 and elevated to the Supreme Court in 1841 where he continued until his death in 1860.
