Virginius Dabney was a journalist specializing in state politics. He rose through the ranks to become editor of the Richmond Times Dispatch in 1936, a position he held for 35 years. He was also a guest lecturer at Princeton University and Cambridge University (England). He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1948.
