Son of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, William Henry Harrison practiced medicine. Upon the death of this father he joined the army, where he served in the Northwest Territory fighting against the Indians. He became the 9th U.S. president and served from March 4, 1841 until his death from pneumonia on April 4, 1841.
