Willie Lanier, born 1945, was the preeminent football linebacker of his time. He broke through the color barrier of the linebacker position. He was drafted in the second round by the Kansas City Chiefs. He was named one of The Sporting News' 100 Greatest Players. After retirement from football, Will Lanier went to graduate school and became an investment banker.
