The Washington Wizards, formerly the Washington Bullets, is a professional basketball team based in Washington, D.C. The team first played as the Chicago Packers in the 1961-62 season and after they moved to Baltimore, Maryland they became Baltimore Bullets.

In 1973 the team moved to Landover, Maryland and became the Capital Bullets. Then they changed their name to the Washington Bullets the following season. Finally in 1995 the team was renamed as Washington Bullets.

The Wizards play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and their home arena has been the Verizon Center (formerly the MCI Center) since 1997. The 2007-08 Washington Wizards season will be their 47th season in the National Basketball Association. The team colors are blue, white, gold and black.
