General
- A contestant or a team of contestants must complete the PSA
Contest Cover Sheet.
- For minors, a parent/guardian signature is required.
- Written entries, DVDs and CDs will not be returned to contestants.
- The decision of the judges is final.
- Current 6th, 7th and 8th graders, high school students, and adults
are eligible to enter.
- Team submissions are allowed within age groups (i.e., teams of
6th, 7th or 8th graders; teams of high school students; teams of
adults.)
- All entries must be original work.
- A contestant or a team of contestants may submit only
one video PSA entry. A video PSA entry consists of the
completed cover
sheet, signature
page, three paper form copies
of the WHY VOTE PSA
Concept Description and three paper copies
of the PSA Video
Script.
- A contestant or team of contestants may submit only
one audio PSA
entry. An audio PSA entry consists of the completed cover
sheet, signature
page, three paper form copies of the WHY VOTE
PSA Concept Description and three paper copies of the PSA
Audio Script.
- Video and audio entries must be exactly 30 seconds or 60 seconds
in length.
- Contest entries must be submitted by June 23

PSA Concept Description (250 words or less)
The PSA Concept Description is a separate, typed,
double-spaced overview organized into three
sections with the following headings:
- Target audience – Who is this PSA aimed
at and why did you choose this group?
- Brief description – What is the main idea
of this PSA? Who are the main participants? Where (location)
and when (time frame) is the PSA situated?
- Impact – How will this PSA encourage voting?
PSA Video Script Requirements
The PSA video script must follow the format
shown in Example 1 and provide:
- Timing (start time of the scene is typed in the left column);
- Video Description (short description/explanation of the scene
is typed in the middle column); and,
- Audio Description (the complete audio script and/or sound effects
is typed in the right column).
PSA Audio Script Requirements
The PSA audio script must follow the format
shown in Example 2 and provide:
- Timing (start time is typed in the left column); and
- Audio Description (the complete audio script (including sound
effects) is typed in the right column).
DVD and CD Guidelines
- Inclusion of a DVD with a video entry or a CD with an audio
entry is optional.
- If the contestant decides to include a DVD, it must comply with
the DVD-R (DVD minus-R) standard and three copies must be submitted
in three individual slim jewel cases. (The readability of
the optional DVD is the responsibility of the contestant.)
- If the contestant decides to include a CD, the audio file must
be in the .mp3 or .wav file format and three copies must be submitted
in three individual slim jewel cases. (The readability of the optional
CD is the responsibility of the contestant.)
