    • Bank Ratings from Bankrate.com
      This site provides a rating feature that reports the financial condition of banks, thrifts and credit unions. Free financial statements and memorandums are available by type of institution and then refined by other criteria.

    • FDIC's Financial Institution Directory
      The FDIC gathers data about individual financial institutions and the banking industry. The FDIC Institution Directory is a searchable database that allows users to find the latest financial data, performance ratings, and branch locations for individual financial institutions insured by the FDIC.

    • National Information Center
      Information about domestic and foreign banking organizations operating in the United States. You can learn about a bank's financial information, corporate structure, and branch locations. The Web site is a product of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

    • State Banking Departments
      Links to the Virginia State Corporation Commission, Bureau of Financial Institutions which administers Virginia state laws regarding banking, savings institutions, mortgage brokers, and lenders.



Economic Indicators

  • Bureau of Labor Statistics
    Provides information on national employment and unemployment rates, employment costs, wages by area and occupation, productivity information, consumer spending, business and manufacturing, and other economic statistics.

    Provides access to the daily releases of key economic indicators from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau.

    Provides current economic data on the economy from U.S. government agencies.

Federal Reserve Bank Data
  • Federal Reserve Archival System for Economic Research
    The FRASER Web site contains links to scanned images (PDF format) of historical economic statistical publications, releases and documents. Among the publications included are Banking & Monetary Statistics, the Annual Statistical Digest, Business Conditions Digest and Business Statistics.

  • Federal Reserve Board — Statistical Releases and Historical Data
    Contains daily, weekly, monthly and annual releases of foreign exchange rates, selected interest rates, money stock and debt measures, assets and liabilities of commercial banks in the United States, industrial production and capacity utilization, consumer credit and other statistics.

  • Federal Reserve Economic Data
    The FRED II Web site provides access to regional and national financial and economic data through a database of over 3,000 U.S. economic time series. Data can be downloaded into Microsoft Excel.

  • Federal Reserve Statistical Release — Selected Interest Rates
    Updated weekly, this site provides current commercial paper, CDs, bank prime loan, U.S. government securities and other interest rates. Daily updates are available.



Foreign Exchange Rates

  • Federal Reserve Bank — Historical Information
    Provides exchange rates certified by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for customs purposes as required by section 522 of the amended Tariff Act of 1930. These rates are also those required by the SEC for the integrated disclosure system for foreign private issuers.

    An interactive currency converter based on current exchange rates.
