Blogs are online journals, often discussing political commentary, or specific topics of interest to the writer.

    Categorizes headlines by subject from over 300 newspapers and wire services. Can also be searched by keyword.

  • Google News
    Continuously updated headlines gathered from over 4,500 international news sources. Look through the "top stories" or search the database for specific news items.

  • NewsCenter
    Compilation of links to monitor current news. Includes international, national, state and regional news.

  • Pandia News Finder
    This site allows you to keyword search for daily news, and displays headlines, summaries and direct links to articles.



Magazines
For additional resources, see the library's online Magazine databases.  Try General Reference Center Gold or MasterFILE Premier for general interest magazines.
  • e-Zines


  • Find Articles
    This site offers free access to the full-text of articles published in over 300 magazines dating from 1998. Users can search by keyword or by subject category.

  • The MagazineBoy
    This site provides direct links to online magazines arranged by broad categories.

Newspapers
For additional resources, see the library's online Newspaper databases. Try National Newspapers database from ProQuest Direct for the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and others.



Podcasts

Podcasts are similar to radio shows on the Internet, which you can download and listen to at your convenience on your computer or MP3 player. For lists of podcasts you might like to subscribe to, try the following links:

Radio
For additional resources, see the library's online database containing Transcripts from Radio and Televison.

  • Internet Radio
    Listen to live radio feeds over your computer, using Windows Media Player, Real Player or software that plays streaming MP3 files.

    • Live365
      Uses any player. Some stations only available by subscription.

    • Mike's Radio World
      Indicates which player is necessary.

    • SHOUTcast
      Uses a player compatible with streaming MP3 audio, such as Winamp or iTunes.

    Blinkx searches the Web to bring you seven million hours of video content. Be sure to have your pop-up blocker turned off if you choose one of the news videos on the front page.

  • Hulu
    Watch free full-length episodes of current primetime TV shows, classics and even some feature-length movies from more than 50 content providers including FOX, NBC, MGM, Sony Pictures Television, Warner Bros., Lionsgate and more.

  • The New Networks
    Wired magazine's short list of interesting video aggregators.

  • SearchVideo
    AOL has brought together videos from all over the Web. Includes news, sports, entertainment, movies and music videos. Many are free, but some you must buy or have a subscription to the video service it came from.
