  • No Flying No Tights — Graphic Novel Reviews
    A trio of Web sites for children, teens and adults, which reviews graphic novels and suggests appropriateness for different age groups.

  • Oprah's Books
    Information about the books featured in Oprah's Book Club, seen on her show and discussed in O, the Oprah Magazine. Includes a list of Oprah's favorite books and a Kids' Reading List. Provides an archive of all the Oprah's Book Club selections since September 1996.

    Bantam-Doubleday's "Readers' Group Companions" include questions for discussion and biographical information about the author. Most of the guides also include additional features such as suggestions for further reading, a discussion of the book's historical context, an interview with the author or other related material.

  • The Books: Reading Group Guides
    Book discussion guides from Time Warner that include a chapter of each book. Search by title, author or category.

  • Books We Have Read and Loved
    Brief summaries and excerpts of books "for readers and book discussion groups looking beyond the bestseller lists for their reading selections." The site is a creation of Reading Woman, a book club that has been meeting "since Oprah was sixteen years old."

  • CliffsNotes
    View the full text of these synopses of literature classics. Each title includes a list of characters, chapter by chapter summaries, character analysis and critical essays.

  • LitLovers
    An online community dedicated to books and book clubs. Unique features include free online literature courses, recipes to go with books and ideas for children’s and teens' book groups.

    The American Library Association's list of full-text reviews of new and older books.

  • The Complete Review
    This site describes itself as "A selectively comprehensive, objectively opinionated survey of books old and new." For each of the wide variety of books covered, the site includes basic information about book and author, a graded review prepared by site editors, and links to media reviews and related Web sites.

  • New York Review of Books
    Newest issue and archives to search by title, author, reviewer, etc.

  • The New York Times Sunday Book Review

    New and used books and textbooks. Search by title, author, keyword or ISBN.

  • Bookfinder.com
    Search this metasite for new and used books by author, title or type of book.

  • Publishers' Catalogues
    A directory of links to more than 7,700 publishers' catalogs from the United States and around the world, plus links to online bookstores and international book fairs.

  • American Folklore
    Short entertaining stories which include tall tales, folktales, ethnic tales and famous characters.

  • Children's Picture Book Database
    This database allows you to search through more than 4000 picture books by subject keywords. An abstract describing the book is included with each record. The database is created and maintained by Miami University of Ohio.

  • Database of Award-Winning Children's Literature
    Print out a custom list based on criteria such as suggested reading level, genre, format, gender of protagonist, setting or historical period.

  • Horn Book Magazine's Recommended Books
    A collection of annotated lists of literature for children and young adults, including their popular list of Children's Classics. Other interesting areas of the Horn Book Web site are the sections for teachers and parents, authors and illustrators, news and current issues.

  • International Children's Digital Library
    A project of the University of Maryland and the Internet Archives, the International Children's Digital Library offers a large number of full-text children's books, including illustrations, in several languages. Enter the library to browse by subject, geographical setting or origin.

  • Juvenile Series and Sequels
    This site lists more than 850 children's books that are part of a series. Books can be searched by author, title, series title or by subject, and are classified by reading level as either juvenile easy, juvenile, or young adult. The Web site is produced by Mid-Continent Public Library, Missouri. Fairfax County Public Library owns many, but not all, titles.

  • KidLinks — Books and Reading
    Reading lists, organized by type of book, include an image of each title and a short summary. The site also offers lists for beginning readers, books in series and links to author Web sites.

  • Kidsreads.com
    Part of The Book Report Network, this site for children's literature includes book reviews, articles, author profiles and interviews, information on series books, synopses of new releases and literary games and contests.

  • Sidekicks — Graphic Novel Reviews for Kids
    A Web site for children that lists and reviews graphic novels, and suggests appropriateness for different age groups.
