Library Offers New Homework Help

Public libraries across Virginia, including Fairfax County Public Library, now have access to Literati Public, a service designed to connect learners of all ages to the information they need in a way that is both intuitive and engaging. 

This new online service includes a host of resources such as educational content for K-12 students and adults, informational videos and tutorials and interactive discovery tools. Literati Public has been specifically customized for Virginia libraries. Online tutoring help from certified teachers is offered through the “Homework Help” tab Monday through Thursday from

3 p.m.- 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. This service is offered to all students in Virginia (grades 3-12) needing help in math, reading or writing.

“Through Literati, Virginia residents will be able to locate all the resources of their local public library. Literati helps users learn how to find and evaluate information,” said Carol Adams, assistant director of library development and networking at the Library of Virginia.

Parents and teachers can watch a 30-minute demonstration of Homework Help on Wednesday, April 17 at 2 p.m. Please register at

The service launched on September 21, 2012. Programs that will be supported by Literati Public include family literacy, knowledge of Virginia history, personalized homework help and increased use of public library services and resources.

Literati Public is available at Select Fairfax County Public Library and Go; on the second screen enter your library card number.

There are multiple ways to access this new resource from the library website; here’s one:

  • Go to the library home page:;
  • Select Homework help under Library Services in the center column;
  • Select Find an Online Teacher to Help/Find Resources;
  • Then Select Fairfax County Public Library, click Go and enter your library card number.
