To meet the goals of the National Arthritis Action Plan and arthritis-related
national health objectives for 2010, the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC), Arthritis Foundation, Lupus Foundation of America,
and other organizations are working together to increase awareness,
early diagnosis, and appropriate management for better control of arthritis. During
the month, various communities will sponsor Arthritis WalksTM to
raise money for education and research. Participants may choose
5k or 1-mile courses, and women and children with arthritis will wear
special blue “hero” caps to show that they are taking control
of their disease.
